Maria is a Computer Science undergraduate from Germany and has spent the Academic Year 2014-2015 as a Visiting Student at Columbia University in the City of New York. She has a minor in Business/Entrepreneurship and is interested in tech start-ups and building non-profits. She has 3+ years full-time experience as a Software Engineer and will be interning at Facebook as a Software Engineer this summer. Her heart beats for using technology to create a social impact and also for more women in tech, hence she founded the organization "Girls Can Do IT" with the goal to encourage more young girls to study Computer Science in Germany. Maria has been a Lean In Leader since the end of 2013 and is involved as the Founder of Lean In @ Columbia University and as a Lean In Campus Coach. In the past year, she spoke at conferences and gave workshops about Lean In Circles and was also part of the Lean In CS&E chapter launch in February 2015. Mehdi is a rising junior who hails from the beautiful land of Tunisia, where he lived before going to Harvard. For the last two years, he has been visiting his country Tunisia over breaks but also goes to Paris every break, where his mom now lives. Academically, Mehdi is very interested in the sciences, concentrating in computer science with a potential secondary in psychology. Mehdi is planning on working in the technology world which he is passionate about and hopes to combine that passion with his love of fashion in the future. Mehdi is the directory of technology for Harvard Ventures, the premier entrepreneurship-oriented organization on campus and is the tech chair for the international society at Harvard. He is also passionate about the work Lean In has been doing and was a board member for the WECode (Women Engineers Code) conference at Harvard, where he coordinated the launching of the CS&E chapters in different colleges throughout the country. In his free time, Mehdi likes to relax with friends, listen to music, watch random audition videos on YouTube and annoy his friends with his singing.
